FDA Approves Wegovy® for Treatment of MASH (Advanced Fatty Liver Disease)

New Hope for Liver Health at Aspire Health

We're excited to share important news in the treatment of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH), a serious and progressive form of fatty liver disease.

The FDA has officially approved Wegovy®, a GLP-1 medication, for the treatment of MASH. This marks a major breakthrough, providing patients with a treatment option beyond lifestyle changes like diet and exercise. National advertising for this new indication is expected to begin as early as October or November.

At Aspire Health, we're proud to offer FibroScan®, a quick, non-invasive test that assesses liver stiffness and fat content—key indicators of liver disease. The test is painless, takes only about 4 minutes, and is performed right in our office.

More than 130 million Americans are estimated to have some form of fatty liver disease, yet only 5% have been diagnosed. You may be at risk for MASH if you have any of the following:

  • BMI over 25 or waist circumference over 37 inches (men) / 31.5 inches (women)

  • Type 2 diabetes or prediabetes (A1C > 5.7%)

  • High blood pressure (≥130/85 mmHg)

  • High triglycerides (>150 mg/dL)

  • Low HDL cholesterol (<40 mg/dL)

  • Elevated liver enzymes (ALT >29 in men; >19 in women)

If you have any of these risk factors, we may reach out to schedule a screening—or you're welcome to contact our office to learn more and set up an appointment.

At Aspire Health, we're committed to staying at the forefront of medical advancements to provide you with the best care possible. We look forward to helping you take proactive steps toward better liver and metabolic health.

Ankle Brachial Index (ABI)

Now Offering Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) Testing

Screening for Circulation and Vascular Health at Aspire Health

At Aspire Health, we're committed to proactive screening and early diagnosis to help you stay ahead of health conditions that can impact your long-term wellness. We're excited to announce that we are now offering Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) testing—a quick, painless, non-invasive way to evaluate circulation in your legs and detect Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) or other vascular issues.

What is ABI Testing?

ABI testing compares the blood pressure in your ankles with the blood pressure in your arms. This simple test helps identify blocked or narrowed arteries in your legs—often before symptoms become serious.

Who Should Consider ABI Testing?

You may benefit from ABI testing if you experience:

  • Leg pain while walking (claudication)

  • Cold, numb, or weak legs and feet

  • Slow-healing sores or ulcers

  • Skin discoloration, dryness, or itching

  • Leg swelling or visible varicose veins

  • Hair loss or slow-growing toenails

  • Burning or aching sensations in your lower limbs

Even without symptoms, you may still be a candidate if:

  • You're age 60 or older

  • You're age 50–64 with risk factors like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking history, or family history of PAD

  • You're under 50 with diabetes and at least one other risk factor for atherosclerosis

Take the Next Step for Your Vascular Health

If any of the above applies to you, our care team may recommend ABI screening—or you're welcome to reach out and request an appointment directly.

At Aspire Health, your wellness is our priority. We're proud to integrate advanced screening tools like ABI testing to support your vascular and cardiovascular health.

Schedule your ABI test today by contacting our team or asking about it at your next visit.
